MORNING DEW: 27-11-2018
TOPIC: DAVID, THE MAN AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART
TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 19:18
“David escaped and fled. He came to Samuel at Ramah and told him all that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went and stayed at Naioth. It was reported to Saul saying, “David is at Naioth in Ramah right now.”
DAVID RAN TO SAMUEL THE PRIEST
King Saul continued chasing David. Satan never gets tired of working against people of grace, and since he was using King Saul, he never got tired chasing David. After his escape, he ran to Samuel at Ramah and narrated his ordeal with King Saul to the old man, his spiritual father. David had family in Bethlehem that he could run to. He had friends that he could run to, but no. He went to his spiritual father, the man who ordained him as king.
What David did was the right thing. He was a matured and wise person.
Every preacher has a spiritual leader. And every child of God has a spiritual leader. If you don’t have one, then you are doomed. The mess we are witnessing today in the ministry is as the result of lack of spiritual fathers and mothers. Some of us have come to different levels and think that we can do it without anybody’s direction.
We think that we know all so we don’t need help. We think that we are filled with the anointing so we don’t need the help of spiritual fathers.
Beloved, no matter the experience of a player he still need a coach. Being anointed doesn’t make you an experience person, therefore, run to your spiritual father for counsel whenever you are confused, whenever you don’t know where to turn to, whenever you don’t know which path to take.
I know you will ask me; “what is the work of the Holy Spirit?”
Yes, I understand that some of the duties of the Holy Spirit is to direct and teach you, but do you know that when you are confused, you ignore the directions of the Holy Spirit? Besides, the Holy Spirit can keep something from you and reveal it to your spiritual father to be given to you.
David, after going through the experiences with his master, had to go to his spiritual father for counsel and guidance. You also need a spiritual father or a mentor, who will counsel and direct you.
WHO IS QUALIFIED AS A MENTOR OR A SPIRITUAL PERSON?
Not everybody who can be served as a spiritual person or a mentor.
So who then is qualified as a spiritual person or a mentor?
- Your spiritual head, it can be your Pastor, Deacon/Deaconess/Elder/Father/Bishop
- An experienced minister, not necessarily your Pastor.
- A trustworthy and Holy Ghost filled Christian worker.
- The person should be able to keep information’s to himself, not broadcasting them.
…to be continued…
Prayer: Lead me to a genuine spiritual person or a mentor Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ Name!
Amen!
