MORNING DEW: David, the man after God’s own heart (Part 25)

MORNING DEW: 26-11-2018

TOPIC: DAVID, THE MAN AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART

TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 19:11-17

”Saul sent messengers to David’s house to watch him so they could kill him in the morning. David’s wife, Michal, told him, “If you don’t escape with your life tonight, tomorrow you’ll be put to death.” So Michal let David down through the window, and he escaped and fled. Then Michal took the household idol and laid it on the bed with a cover of goat hair placed at its head. Then she covered it with clothes. When Saul sent the messengers to take David, Michal said, “He’s sick.” Then Saul sent messengers to check on David. He told them, “Bring him to me on the bed so I may kill him.” The messengers went in, and there was the household idol in the bed with the cover of goat hair at its head! Then Saul told Michal, “Why did you deceive me like this and let my enemy go so he could escape?” Michal told Saul, “He told me, ‘Let me go or I’ll kill you!”

MICHAL, DAVID’S WIFE, HELPED HIM ESCAPE

RECOMMENDED:  Living Word Devotional (Wednesday, 2nd November)

King Saul continued with his pursue of David. This time he sent his officials to watch on David and kill him. Michal was not comfortable with the arrangement hence she helped David to escape. Even though King Saul was her father, she wouldn’t helped him carry out this wicked plan. David was not just her husband but a man of destiny, a man after God’s own heart.

IT IS A SUICIDAL TO BETRAY A MAN AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART

What Michal did was the right thing. You don’t betray men of grace. Betraying such people means betraying your own life. When the harlot Rahab saved the lives of the children of promise (Joshua 2:4) she was honoured and became the Messiah’s bloodline (Matthew 1:5). When Ruth married the man of promise (Ruth 1:4) she was honoured by associating with the Messiah (Matthew 1:5). But when Judas Iscariot betrayed the man of grace (Matthew 26:14-16) he lost his life (Matthew 27:5).

RECOMMENDED:  MORNING DEW: WOE TO ALL IDOL WORSHIPPERS (PART TWO)

Help people of destinies and you would be helped. Support people of grace and you would be supported. Respect people of grace and you would be honoured.

On the contrary, neglect the people of grace and suffer shame. Insult men of grace and experience hardship, ill issues and lack. Despise people of grace and suffer continuous disappointment in life. Betray, subbotage, blackmail people after God’s own heart and suffer untimely death.

Men after God’s own heart are untouchable. Handle them well. Michal did the honourable thing, you can also do the honourable thing.

…to be continued…

Prayer: Holy Spirit, direct my movement to behave well towards all manner of people, in Jesus’ Name!

Amen!
