MORNING DEW: THE TRUE LOVE

MORNING DEW: 14/02/2019

THEME: THE TRUE LOVE

TEXT: 1 JOHN 4:7-12, 19-21

“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.”

“We love him, because he first loved us. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.”

LET US LOVE ONE ANOTHER

The love here is a verb, which is an action word or a doing word. It cannot profess without actions. Then it will be a fake one. John entreated the church to love one another for love is of God. Love is God’s nature and those who love are born of Him. God demonstrated this love by sending His begotten Son, Jesus Christ to save mankind from His wrath. He didn’t just say I loved these people and ended it there, but He acted as well. Love is therefore action but not just mere words.

RECOMMENDED:  VANGUARDS OF CHRIST DEVOTIONALS (Wed, 2nd Nov)

In the Greek version is “agapaō” which is to welcome, to entertain, to be fond of, to love dearly or to love (in a social or moral sense).

We are talking of unconditional love here. The love that has no “if” clause.

Since we have not seen God before if we love ourselves God will dwell in us because He is LOVE. To prove that we are God’s children we must love one another. Meaning if you don’t love people you don’t belong to God, in other words you are not God’s child.

HOW TO PROVE YOUR LOVE FOR SOMEONE

The verse twenty says; “if a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

So how do you prove your love for someone?

1. Saving the person’s soul.

Deliver the person’s soul from hell fire. Salvation means deliverance from sin and its consequences, that is saving someone from sin to prevent him from entering hell fire. So if you so loved to that extent, then you will save souls, preach to them and bring them to Christ.

We are comfortable at our comfort zones, building mansions, competing with one another, buying cars and anything money can buy, and leaving souls dying each day to hell fire. It is pity.

2. Feeding the person or helping the person in times of need.

If you love somebody you will provide his physical basic needs to keep him going. It is unfortunate some Christians don’t have time for the less privileged. They eat and feed their dogs with better food and the needy sleeps hunger.

3. Interceding for the person.

If you really love people you will constantly intercede for such individuals. Pray for them for good health, for unshakable faith, for traveling mercies, for God’s favour and mercy. Stop your self-centered prayers, always “I” and “me” attitude.

Stop your judgmental prayers. If God were wishing what you are wishing now you wouldn’t have been alive. Everybody is your enemy and the best remedy is elimination, meaning you lack love. Jesus said pray for your enemies and not to kill your enemies.

If you love people you will not like to destroy them during this valentine. You won’t be sleeping with people’s wives in this season. You won’t be sleeping with ladies who are not yet married, destroying their destinies.

The true love is not about sex, it is about loving with or without sex. It is loving with or without gifts. It is loving with or without insults. It is called “unconditional love”. Show it this valentine.

Fornication is a sin against your body and God, therefore avoid it this time, because God will destroy such individuals. (1 Corinthians 3:17).

LOVE ALL!

This is a special chocolate and valentine message to you

MEMORY VERSE

“If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don’t have love, I have become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal.” (1 Corinthians 13:1).

Prayer: Help me this time Holy Spirit as you do always, to avoid sin this season and forever, in Jesus’ Name!

Amen!
