PERISHABLE THINGS DON’T DEFINE YOU 2
What could this definition be?
“The mystery of which was hidden for ages and generations from angels and men], but is now revealed to His holy people (the saints). This is a privilege only enjoyed by those who possess deep insight about it with a conscious effort. And this is the secret: Christ in your hearts is your only hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:26-27)
Who is a Christian based on this subject? You going to church always does not make you a Christian. A Christian is one who possesses God in His heart and is displaying or hoping for the manifestation of His glory through daily fellowship.
What is glory? According to Merriam-websters dictionary, glory is a public praise, honor, and fame or praise of a god or goddess, something that brings praise or fame to someone or something ,something that is a source of great pride.
Why then do most believers glory in their perishable substances? Are they blind about the truth that all glory is the Lord’s,who is now in them to be glorified?
Let’s look at the Greek and Hebrew definitions as well. In the Old Testament the word for “glory” is the Hebrew word “kabowd” which carries the idea of heaviness and weight. In the New Testament the Greek word is “doxa” which carries the idea of opinion, judgment, estimate, splendour, brightness, etc. It is used to speak of great honor, praise, value, wonder, and splendor.
Glory is spoken of in reference to people (Prov. 16:31) and God (Gen. 49:6; Psa. 3:3). Glory is given by God (Psa. 84:11) and also is a manifestion of God’s greatness and presence that is awesome to behold (Gen. 33:22; Exo. 40:34; Num. 14:10).
Glory is the Lord’s but He has given us this same glory. John 17:22 “And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one.”
Look at your life,do you see God’s glory been testified by others?
You responding to the inner workings of the glory and allowing it to manifest visibly for eyes to see must be your definition as a believer.
This is worth bragging about that we posses God in us.
“For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” (1 Peter 1:23). This happened before God came to live in us.He gave us an imperishable gift.
How is your imperishable gift doing? What is He doing in you? Why did He descend to live in you? Have you ever thought about these questions?
