MORNING DEW: Don’t be annoyed

MORNING DEW: 01-10-2018

TOPIC: DON’T BE ANNOYED

TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 7:8-11

8 If I made you sad with my letter, I do not regret it, although I did regret it then. I see that the letter caused you sorrow, though only for a while.

9 Now I am happy, not because you had such sorrow, but because your sorrow led you to repent. For you were sorry in a godly way, and so you were not hurt by us in any way.

10 For having sorrow in a godly way results in repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regrets. But the sorrow of the world produces death.

11 See what great earnestness godly sorrow has produced in you! How ready you are to clear yourselves, how indignant, how alarmed, how full of longing and enthusiasm, how eager to seek justice! In every way you have demonstrated that you are innocent in this matter.

PAUL, THE UNCOMPROMISED PREACHER

Yesterday we considered point one, which explained that Paul preached the Gospel Truth.”
Today we will study the remaining points.

The people, according to Paul, were not happy about what they heard. Perhaps they wanted to hear sweet message.

What was the nature of the message?

RECOMMENDED:  MORNING DEW: BE ALERT!

2. It was devoid of discrimination.
Paul gave a row message that affected everybody, irrespective of colour, age, position, stature, etc.
Paul was not preaching for fame, neither was he preaching to feed his stomach, however, nothing could prevent him from preaching what he received. He preached to all the members regardless of their portfolios.

3. It was not a “nice” message to the people.
Paul was not a nice preacher. He didn’t know how to be nice delivering his sermons. He preached it the way it was.
Not sermons like; “you will go to UK,” and so what? “you will win a lotto,” “you will prosper,” but this is not news.

Some of the sermons are noise making, just saying words that will arouse the listeners. Paul would not do that. You have never preached a message to attract enemies or to be insulted. Jesus never preached nice messages. All His messages attracted enemies. You want to please everybody, hence everybody is good.

4. It exposed the people’s weaknesses.
Paul messages exposed the wrong doing of the members. Their weaknesses were being exposed which they were not comfortable with. Their sins were being exposed which they saw as embarrassment.

RECOMMENDED:  THIS IS OUR DUTY

Animals don’t sin nor have weaknesses, but human beings do, so why worry when your sins are being exposed? One of the reasons is that, some homo sapiens want to live like wild animals – life free, no control no direction.

If a preacher does not preach about sin, he is only compromising the Truth. Some preachers argument is that, as far as the people have accepted Christ, you can only teach them to make money instead of preaching salvation messages.

Personally I don’t support this ascertion. Jesus kept on preaching salvation messages till his death, even to his own disciples. The Bible has every problem’s solution. You can preach prosperity but it does not mean that when you have Christ salvation messages are not important.
You think everybody sitting in the building knows what you know.

Change your mindset about the way you preach, and when the Word is preached, don’t get annoyed.

HAPPY NEW MONTH AND MAY GOD SEE YOU THROUGH THIS TENTH MONTH.

Prayer: I thank you Lord for this Word, forgive me for the wrong actions taken by me regarding the Truth, in Jesus’ Name!
Amen!
