TOPIC: PUT YOUR TRUST IN THE LORD
TEXT: PROVERBS 3:1:4 (ISV)
- My son, don’t forget my instruction, and keep my commandments carefully in mind.
- For they will add length to your days, years to your life, and abundant peace to you.
- Do not let gracious love and truth leave you. Bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart,
- and find favor and a good reputation with God and men.
DON’T FORGET GOD’S INSTRUCTIONS AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS
God’s instructions are His Laws. The laws He expects His children to obey at all times. There are blessings obeying His instructions and there are curses disobeying His instructions. Adam and His wife, Eve, disobeyed His instructions and were punished (Genesis 3) which their legacy is still evident.
In the days of Noah human race became sinful and would not listen to God’s instructions. And God had to kill them all, preserving only eight people to continue His agenda for earth (Genesis 6, 7, 8).
Sodom and Gomorrah had God’s wrath because they refused to heed to His instructions (Genesis 19).
All the above incidents happened because they refused to obey God’s instructions. God has a standard and He expects all humanity to live per this standard. He hates sin hence He wants all human race to live right with Him.
As Christians, we will have to obey His instructions. Obeying His instructions show your readiness to be called His child.
“However, to all who received him, those believing in his name, he gave authority to become Gods children. (John 1:12)
According to our text if we obey His instructions and keep His commandments there are some benefits or certain blessings we will attain.
- Length to your days
Your days will be lengthened. He will give you more time to live. Your days will not be reduced.
- Years to your life
Instead of dying prematurely you will die as old. More years will be added to you. You will live a productive and fruitful life.
- Abundant peace
Not just peace but abundant. Peace is essential in every society. When peace is taken away from a place lives are lost. But obeying God’s instructions and keeping His commandments there wouldn’t be the need for wars.
- Favour and good reputation with God and men
You will be favoured before God and man. Meaning you have God’s support as well as man. Meaning wherever you go you will be given the needed support.
Beloved, let the fear of God be key in your life. Obey His commandments whether they make sense to you or not.

Don’t forget His instructions, and keep His commandments.
