“And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.” (Acts 3:5)
One of the greatest subtle weapons used by successful people is an expectation about their circumstances and beliefs. Proverbs 23:7 makes it unequivocally clear, that as a man thinketh (meditates, expects and declares) in his heart, so is he. We are shaped by our thoughts and expectations about ourselves.
Romans 12:2 admonishes us to desist from conforming to this world but rather, be transformed by renewing our minds. We become what we see in our mind. This verse implies that the experiences which manifest in our lives are mainly as a result of what we program our minds to accept and dwell upon and it is only by renewing our minds that we can impact our circumstances and ultimately, our destinies.
Now, you may ask yourself: “How can a mere figment of my imagination be translated to an improved life?” Now consider the scenario where you have made a firm commitment to yourself that irrespective of what you may face daily, you will always strive to be honest. Looking at yourself in the mirror and declaring that you are truly honest will always ensure that when you are faced with a situation to be dishonest, your declaration (expectation of yourself) will match the outcome (experience: the manifestation of honesty).
Keep expecting positive experiences in the future and you shall surely get there. Just make sure that you ignore all interferences with your prophetic destiny and have faith in God’s authentic plan for your life. Expectation will keep you focused and running till you get to the end of the road of destiny. Remember that positive expectation gives birth to confidence, which eventually validates your rewards in destiny.
Also note that we, as the children of God have been given all things pertaining to life and godliness (2Peter 1:3), and positive expectation of ourselves (1Peter 1:16) is no exception.
PRAYER POINT
Since the expectation of the righteous shall not be cut off, I embrace the better and brighter future you have prepared for me. I expect the best not the worst, the beautiful not the ashes, joy not mourning and praise not heaviness. Amen.
