In my own perspective,I believe there are a lot of believers who love the lord but are struggling with some negative addictions committed privately or been known by others as Paul puts it in Romans 7:18-24.
On the other hand, there are few who pretend to have no weaknesses at all and are very fast to judge, criticize and point fingers at others.
The only solution to any struggle any believer may face or may be facing can only be overcomed by grace through faith.
No genuine born again believer is comfortable with the practice of sin because of the indwelling of the new man. An unbeliever never struggles with the practice of sin, because whatever they feel like doing is what they do.
Paul asserts it this way,
“For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot perform it. [I have the intention and urge to do what is right, but no power to carry it out.]
For I fail to practice the good deeds I desire to do, but the evil deeds that I do not desire to do are what I am [ever] doing. Now if I do what I do not desire to do, it is no longer I doing it [it is not myself that acts], but the sin [principle] which dwells within me fixed and operating in my soul].” Romans 7:18-19 AMP
No unbeliever will understand or agree with this text, because they have yielded themselves uncontrollably to the practice and principle of sin and are comfortable with it without a struggle.
Every genuine born again believer according to the text above, desires to do good but without the needed strength.
I know everyone who has been delivered or stopped struggling with a particular sin will testify that though they made an effort, it was by Grace that they were able to overcome. Why then must a believer point fingers at a struggling believer as though they have not been there before or made it by their strength?
What will Jesus do if He encounters a struggling believer? If we are like Jesus here on earth as 1 John 4:17 says then we must do exactly what He would have done.
A typical example of Jesus helping a believer out is found in Luke 22:31-32,”And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired [to have] you, that he may sift [you] as wheat,But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.”
Simon never knew the danger he found himself in following Jesus, but he received Grace from Jesus without doing anything to be saved from the attack.
Jesus always does this for us.If He does and we are like Jesus, what have we done for that struggling believer lately?
They might not open up to tell you but deep within, they are crying out,”Pray for me,I don’t find any joy in reading my bible, praying to God nor offer Him worship in my privacy.”
But when we all come out to the public, we all sing spiritually, quote scriptures, act right and all but in reality,it’s just an act of impression.
All this and more are happening in the lives of believers across the world .1Peter 5:9 Unfortunately, the ministry of intercessory has faded out because of selfishness.
Look around,do you see that Christian brother or sister who in your own estimation is not living right? Deep within, they are always saying, “PRAY FOR ME”. Because, they already know they are struggling and only need help from a Jesus like you. An advice is good but praying for them is the best.
If we will all go back to the ministry of intercession for our fellow believers seen struggling or not, this attitude of pride, fights, arguments and factions will fade off.
Be an intercessor for a brethren today.
God bless You.
