MORNING DEW: David, the man after God’s own heart (Part 5)

MORNING DEW: 05-11-2018

TOPIC: DAVID, THE MAN AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART

TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 16:14

“But the Spirit of the Lord had left Saul. The Lord sent an evil spirit to Saul. It made him afraid and it caused him to have troubles.”

THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD DEPARTED FROM KING SAUL

Here is Saul made a terror to himself. The Spirit of the Lord departed from him. He having forsaken God and his duty, God, in a way of righteous judgment, withdrew from him those assistances of the good Spirit with which he was directed, animated, and encouraged in his government and wars.

He lost all his good qualities. This was the effect of his rejecting God, and an evidence of his being rejected by Him. Now God took His mercy from Saul.

When the Spirit of the Lord departs from us, all good goes. When men grieve and quench the Spirit, by willful sin, He departs, and will not always strive.

RECOMMENDED:  MORNING DEW: David, the man after God’s own heart (Part 8)

Today, many Christians have lost the contact of the Holy Spirit due to their careless living. The truth is that, as a Christian, you can’t operate without the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our Power, Comforter, Director, Teacher, and Advisor.

Any body of Christ that despise the activities of the Holy Spirit is a dead body.

EVIL SPIRIT SENT BY GOD

When you are on the Lord’s side, you enjoy His protection but vice versa means your protection will come from the enemy. Disobeying God means violating God’s Law. Saul violated God’s Law, hence he lost the honour.

The consequence of this was that an evil spirit sent by God troubled him. Those that drive the good Spirit away of course become prey to the evil spirit. If God and his grace do not rule us, sin and Satan will have possession of us. The devil, by the divine permission, troubled and terrified Saul, by means of the corrupt humours of his body and passions of his mind.

RECOMMENDED:  MORNING DEW: Lack of knowledge make my people perish

He grew fretful, and peevish, and discontented, timorous and suspicious, ever and anon starting and trembling; he was sometimes, strangled, and a perfect demoniac by fits. This made him unfit for business, precipitate in his counsels, the contempt of his enemies, and a burden to all about him.

If you are not on the Lord’s side, then you are on the enemy’s side.

Meaning it’s either God or Satan. You can’t be in the middle.

…to be continued…

Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, do not expose me to the evil spirit, continue to use me, I’m ready to obey you, in Jesus’ Name!

Amen!
