MORNING DEW: 04-11-2018
TOPIC: DAVID, THE MAN AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART
TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 17:12-13
“So he sent and brought him. He had a dark, healthy complexion, with beautiful eyes, and he was handsome. The LORD said, “Get up and anoint him, for this is the one.” Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed David in the presence of his brothers, and the Spirit of the LORD came on David from that day forward. Then Samuel got up and went to Ramah.
DAVID WAS REMEMBERED
After all the seven sons of Jesse’s appeared before Samuel and were rejected by God, Samuel asked Jesse, “Are these all the young men?” And the answer was, “there yet remains the youngest one, and right now he’s tending the sheep.” (1 Samuel 17:11).
David was finally remembered by his family. He was remembered after the disappointments. There are some instances you don’t have to fight for certain things. What belongs to you belong to you.
Just relax wherever you find yourself beloved. Relax at your small corner. Do what you love doing and leave the rest to God. David was a shepherd boy and he loved being one.
He never talked of becoming a king but God thought of him becoming a king. He never talked of living in a big city because he was used to his small way of life, but he was to go to a big city. God is the Master Planner and He is the final determiner of our destinies. No matter your place of abode you can still bring you out to fulfill your destiny. There is no need wandering about.
DAVID ANOINTED AS KING
David was finally called upon. He had a dark, healthy complexion, with beautiful eyes, and he was handsome.
“Get up and anoint him, for this is the one.”
David was then anointed as king in the presence of all his seven brothers, including his father. The man after God’s own heart was anointed to be a king. He never struggled for it. It was a surprise divine visit.
The next person to receive a surprise divine visit is you. Prepare for it.
The people who didn’t want to talk about him watched the priest poured oil on his head. Beloved, it is God who elevates, He makes rich, He blesses and no one curses. It does not matter how people see you, in fact people’s opinions about you do not matter. They can call you names, make mockery of you, curse you, it does not matter.
“The Holy Spirit came on David from that day forward.”
It is called enablement. It is also called empowerment. When you are being elevated you need to be empowered, given good counsel, be given divine direction, and the Spirit of God does all the above.
A Christian without the Holy Spirit is like a house without inhabitant, that house cannot survive. You need the Holy Spirit to be able to grow both physically and spiritually.
David became the first gentleman in the land, you can also become what God wants you be, just have patience.
Have a blessed Sunday!
Prayer: I am ready Lord, bring to pass what you planned about me, Jesus’ Name!
Amen!
