THEME: HELL IS REAL
TEXT: REVELATION 21:8
“But people who are cowardly, unfaithful, detestable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars will find themselves in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur. This is the second death”.
HELL IS REAL
Hell is derived from the Saxon ‘helan’, to cover; hence the covered or the invisible place. In Scripture there are three words so rendered:
- Sheol, occurring in the Old Testament sixty-five times. This word sheol is derived from a root-word meaning “to ask,” “demand;” hence insatiableness (Proverbs 30:15, 16). It is rendered “grave” thirty-one times (Genesis 37:35; Genesis 42:38; Genesis 44:29,31 etc.). The Revisers have retained this rendering in the historical books with the original word in the margin, while in the poetical books they have reversed this rule. In thirty-one cases in the Authorized Version this word is rendered “hell,” the place of disembodied spirits.
The inhabitants of sheol are “the congregation of the dead” (Proverbs 21:16). It is:the abode of the wicked (Numbers 16:33; Job 24:19; Psalms 9:17; Psalms 31:17.
- The Greek word Hades of the New Testament has the same scope of signification as sheol of the Old Testament. It is a prison (1 Peter 3:19), with gates and bars and locks (Matthew 16:18; Revelation 1:18), and it is downward (Matthew 11:23; Luke 10:15).
COWARDS WILL GO TO HELL FIRE
A coward person is a person who lacks courage. A person who lacks courage to denounce idol worship or anything that will be contrary to the worship of God. You can’t say no to sin. Always you compromise simply because you lack courage to say no. Your portion will be the hell fire.
UNFAITHFUL INDIVIDUALS WILL END UP IN HELL FIRE
Someone who is not honest or upright is unfaithful. You are not honest to God and people. Your ways are not straight. You cheat your wife or husband by dating outside the marriage. You can’t be entrusted with money. If you are the unfaithful type your portion is the hell fire.
DETESTABLE FELLOW WILL GO TO HELL FIRE
A person whose ways are offensive or shocking or disgust. You only do things that will offend God. What God hates is what you do. Such person will go to hell fire.
MURDERERS ARE THE CANDIDATES OF HELL FIRE
The crime of deliberate killing of another human is termed as murder. They are people who kill for fame. Some kill for money rituals. Others kill for power. Whichever way you do it it is called murder and you will go to hell fire for such acts.
Being angry with your brother or sister without a cause is tantamount to murder and such people will be punished (Matthew 5:22).
SEXUALLY IMMORAL ONES WILL END UP IN HELL FIRE
Sexually immoral are those who practice unacceptable sex, or unapproved sex. Sex outside marriage is not acceptable as far as the Bible is concerned. Having sex with someone’s wife is not acceptable. Sex with fellow man or woman is not acceptable. Sex with animals is not acceptable.
All those who commit the above acts are the candidates of hell fire.
SORCERERS WILL GO TO HELL FIRE
A magician, wizard or witches are all sorcerers. People who use God’s name to chant money, do miracles, under the cover of witchcraft are all the candidates of hell fire.
IDOLATERS WILL GO TO HELL FIRE
Those who worship idols are called idolaters. They worship the creatures instead of the creator. Some worship money, properties, husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends. Some worship their parents. These are all going to hell fire.
ALL LIARS WILL GO TO HELL FFIRE
Those who don’t tell the truth are liars, those who tell lies. There are people who cannot say the truth. They lie to have their way like Ananias and his wife (Acts 5:1-11). Hell fire is waiting for such people.
All the above characters will go to hell fire. But the good news is that Jesus Christ is ready to accept such ones. Accept Him now to avoid hell fire. You only have the chance today because after death the chance will close.
Beloved, do it now and save your soul from the hell fire.
Prayer: I commit my life to you Lord, forgive me and wash me with the blood of Jesus Christ, in Jesus Name!
