MORNING DEW: 16-11-2018
TOPIC: DAVID, THE MAN AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART
TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 18:1-5
“When David finished speaking with Saul, Jonathan became a close friend to David, and Jonathan loved him as himself. Saul took David that day and did not let him return to his father’s house. Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as he loved himself. Jonathan took off the robe that he had on and gave it to David, along with his coat, his sword, his bow, and his belt. David went out and was successful everywhere Saul sent him, and Saul put him in charge of the troops. This pleased the entire army, as well as Saul’s officials.”
DAVID AND JONATHAN BECAME CLOSE FRIENDS
David appeared before King Saul and was asked to stay in the palace. Jonathan, the son of King Saul, the moment he set his eyes on David, became very close to him. They became close friends, soul tides.
They could do anything to each other. Jonathan could kill himself for David’s sake and vice versa. They could keep each other’s secrets.
This type of love reflects that of Christ, the godly type of love where He died on the cross to bring us close to God. He left everything in heaven, His comfort zone and became a servant for our sake. Just as Jonathan gave David his robe, coat, his sword, his bow, and his belt, the same way Christ gave us the baton of power.
Do we love God enough? He made a covenant with us, but how many of us really understand it? Jonathan made a covenant with David and they understood it very well.
What you should know is that, Jonathan was a prince, a potential king after his father, but the appearance of David was a threat to Saul’s family, including Jonathan, yet Jonathan never envied David. It is called maturity.
Christians today will not do that. Instead, we pull others down for mere positions. We paint others black because we want favour. Jonathan would have done that and take over from his father as a king, but no, he wouldn’t do that. We gossip about people to please our masters in the church. We want to be in the good books of the men of God so we can go any length to achieving that.
May God have mercy us.
As Christians we should see ourselves as close friends who will be interceeding for one another, helping each other, feeding one another, visiting one another, and so on.
David was secured in the palace, he didn’t need to fear since he had a friend more than a brother.
Every Christian should feel secured at the place of worship. Feeling secured is a sure way of belonging, meaning you belong to the church, no intimidation.
DAVID BECAME SUCCESSFUL
A man who carries God’s heart is a man of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. How can such a person fails, never, it can’t happen because with the above there is no law against such things.
David was put in charge of the troops. Everybody was happy about this decision by the king due to his good conduct.
You don’t put corrupt people in positions, people who have weak conscience, they can easily compromise and put you into trouble.
The man after God’s own heart was now the leader of the troops.
When you distinguish yourself well you walk with captains, dine with kings. At this point David never revealed his real identity to Saul or Jonathan, his identity of being a king. David was the next king in Israel.
Patience is the word. God has His own time for manifesting His children. Those who think that they are ahead of time do miss God’s timing benefits. Those who exercise patience and wait do enjoy God’s timing benefits.
Beloved, wait patiently for your time, it does not kill, it rather strengthens.
…to be continued…
Prayer: I thank you Lord for this revelation, I am ready to wait for my manifestation, in Jesus’ Name!
Amen!
