How did this unbending bullheaded being manoeuvre his way into disrupting man’s authority and position over creation as God made it to be.
The devil came fully dressed in his identity as the father of all lies.
John 8:44,NIV……….. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
He had nothing to say but to refute what God had said which he still does to believers today.
The serpent was clever, more clever than any wild animal God had made. He spoke to the Woman: “Do I understand that God told you not to eat from any tree in the garden?”
The Woman said to the serpent, “Not at all. We can eat from the trees in the garden. It’s only about the tree in the middle of the garden that God said, ‘Don’t eat from it; don’t even touch it or you’ll die.'”The serpent told the Woman, “You won’t die. God knows that the moment you eat from that tree, you’ll see what’s really going on. YOU’LL BE JUST LIKE GOD knowing everything, ranging all the way from good to evil.” Genesis 3:1-5(MSG)
The only way the devil could have been resisted to flee was, if eve had knowledge about who she was.
Just imagine eve replying to the devil,”hah,devil am already like God because I don’t lack anything and creation is under my care as a steward,get way from here”.
The devil hates the truth because Jesus is the truth. John 14:6,John 1:14
He would have fled fearfully like how he did when Jesus spoke the it is written Truth to him in Matthew 4:1-12.
Eve was ignorant about this truth,she wanted to be like God because of an identity crisis.She took a different look at the fruit again and this time it looked hankering and unavoidable.The devil still uses this same deception to believers today.
Genesis 3:6 kJV,And when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Wow, am sure Mr.Adam might have been whitewashed by Mrs.Eve because it was Adam God ordered not to eat the tree of knowledge and evil but why couldn’t he resist her wife with the knowledge of this truth?
Because, Adam himself did not know he was like God.So in the quest to be like God,he together with Eve disobeyed God and lost their reign, authority,dominion and power over the earth.
The devil was successful because he had knowledge about what they were ignorant about and succeeded them to be the god of this world.2 Corinthians 4:4, 1 John 5:19
Man was robbed because of identity crisis.
Truth be told,the devil is still deploying this same schemes and strategies to rob believers of this age because of their ignorance of their identity in Christ.
