YOU ARE NEVER ALONE (PART 2)
Jesus didn’t want everyone to be a close friend. This explains why He chose just twelve for His purpose. When the demon possessed man in Matthew 8:28-34 after been delivered opted to follow Jesus, was disallowed but rather empowered to go spread the gospel.
The statement Jesus made really infuriated His wannabe followers so they uttered out their displeasure in verse 41 and 42.
Now the Jews murmured and found fault with and grumbled about Jesus because He said, I am [Myself] the Bread that came down from heaven. They kept asking, Is not this Jesus, the Son of Joseph, Whose father and mother we know? How then can He say, I have come down from heaven?
When you really don’t want everyone as a close friend, people will begin to describe you in a poor manner as though they really know who you are.
But Jesus kept on saying the truth though they were indignant about the statement made.
“Yes, I am the bread of life. “He once again declared.
He even went deep to tell them more truth about Himself as His flesh been true food and His blood been real drink. He wasn’t ready to change the truth of his identity even though his followers didn’t like it. Verse 52-59
His hearers got infuriated due to lack of understanding of his identity and decided to unfollow him. People will always dislike what they don’t understand.
Alexander Dowie once said, “People persecute what they don’t understand.”
From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Verse 66
What would you have done if you were a people pleaser? Convince them that you lied and then move on to undo what you know should not be done to get you closer to God and your assignment.
Most folks fail to pursue their assignment when the people they thought would assist them don’t. They try to please them in other to get their support which almost always ends up going contrary to the original pathology to their assignment.
We should be cognizant about the fact that not all our friends are destined to help us build our vision because some are meant to reject us in other to be directed and strengthened by God. These friends are not enemies but part of the process to the victory.
Jesus the all-knowing knew this truth so placed the opportunity even for the 12 to choose to either follow him or decline.
Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Verse 67
