TEXT: And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfil its lusts. (NKJV) [Romans 13:11-14].
But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,(NKJV) [1 Thessalonians 5:4-9]
Christ never intended for His people to be taken by surprise at his coming. Before the salvation, you had a mind the scripture describes as reprobate. A reprobate mind is a dead mind. It is a mind that seeks to do things outside the will of God.
- To put on the armour of light-to put on Christ
- Cast off the works of darkness. Any dead fish can float downstream with the current. It takes a live fish to swim upstream against the current.
- Behave decently
HOW SHOULD A CHRISTIAN LIVE?
Armour of light-weapon of light:
- Truth, love
- Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.(NKJV) [Romans 13:8]
- Holy, godly, spotless, blameless and at peace (2 Peter 3: 10-12). Righteousness should be the life style of the Christian.
His coming will take the world totally by surprise but not you the Christian. 1 Thessalonians 5:4. “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!'(NKJV) [Matthew 25:6]. The time has come for Christians to experience revival. Every one of us is a potential candidate of either heaven or hell. If you miss heaven, you can’t escape hell and vice versa. * Christless persons risk missing eternal life but enjoy the kiss of eternal damnation. *For those who are not regular with their church attendance end up disobeying the command not to forsake the assembly of brethren.
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.(NKJV) [Hebrews 10:25]. Psalms 133. *Those who fail to fulfil their financial obligations faithfully live below the prosperity levels of the kingdom. “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. ”And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the LORD of hosts; And all nations will call you blessed, For you will be a delightful land,” Says the LORD of hosts.(NKJV) [Malachi 3:8-12]. Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. (NKJV) [3 John 2]
