VANGUARDS OF CHRIST DEVOTIONALS – GOD’S GRACE ON DISPLAY (PART 2)

TODAY’S DEVOTION

?10th September, ’16

TOPIC: GOD’S GRACE ON DISPLAY (PART 2)

MEMORY VERSE:
John 13:10
Jesus saith to him, He that is bathed needs only to wash his feet,…

Has it happened to you before, seated at a church service and the pastor preaches concerning a particular sin you committed some days before church?
I’m sure to have a witness to this. No matter how embarrassing that could be, it’s still the display of God’s grace giving us the second chance to make things right.

After Peter had agreed to be washed, both hands and feet (vrs. 9), Jesus made a profound statement in verse 10, Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed (greek ‘louo’ which means bathing the whole body) needs only to wash (greek ‘nipto’ meaning to cleanse a part of the body, ie: hands, feet or face) his feet…”

We are bathed (greek luouo) when we become born again. This doesn’t end there. God continuously washes (greek nipto) us with His Word as the preachings and exhortations come to us to purge and print us, to be who He wants us to be in Christ Jesus.

RECOMMENDED:  MORNING DEW: WOE TO ALL IDOL WORSHIPPERS (PART ONE)

So the next time God’s Word comes to you like the punch of a needle, addressing the exact sins you are committing, see that as a shout of His grace to you.

PRAYER:
Holy Spirit, make my heart tender enough to accept rebuke from Your Word.

INSIGHT:
“That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing off water by the Word”- Ephesians 5:26
