MORNING DEW: THE NATURE OF LEVIATHAN: A DEMONSTRATION OF GOD’S POWER

MORNING DEW: 22/02/2019

THEME: THE NATURE OF LEVIATHAN: A DEMONSTRATION OF GOD’S POWER

TEXT: JOB 41:1-34

1  “Can you draw Leviathan out of the water with a hook, or tie down his tongue with a rope?

2  Can you attach a bridle to his snout, or pierce his jaw with a hook?

3  Will he make many supplications to you, or will he beg you for mercy?

4  Will he try to make a deal with you, so that you may take him in servitude forever?

5  “Will you play with him like a pet bird? Will you put a leash on him for your little girls?

6  Will your business be able to buy him, Will you divide him among your merchant friends?

7  Will you fill his flesh with harpoons, or his head with lances?

8  Lay your hand on him, and you’ll remember the struggle. You’ll never do that again!

9  “Look! Anyone’s hope to capture him will prove itself false; anyone would be terrified just by looking at him.

10  No one is fierce enough to dare to arouse him. “Who, then, can stand in my presence and face me?

11  Who can take me to court and be reconciled to me? All of heaven is mine.

12  “I won’t be silent concerning his limbs, his mighty strength, and orderly frame…

THE NATURE OF LEVIATHAN: A DEMONSTRATION OF GOD’S POWER

God used a wonderful animal in the sea which true nature is not well known to demonstrate His power.

LEVIATHAN

The Hebrew version of the animal Leviathan” is “livyâthân” which is sea monster, dragon, large aquatic animal perhaps the extinct dinosaur, plesiosaurus, exact meaning unknown.
A wreathed animal, that is, a serpent (especially the crocodile or some other large sea monster); figuratively the constellation of the dragon.

Leviathan is also seen as a vast sea monster of tremendous strength, described as the most powerful and dangerous creature in the ocean.
This animal doesn’t fear anything in the sea or anything above the sea level, including ships.

God asked Job;
“Will you play with him like a pet bird? Will you put a leash on him for your little girls?
Will your business be able to buy him, Will you divide him among your merchant friends?
Will you fill his flesh with harpoons, or his head with lances?
Lay your hand on him, and you’ll remember the struggle. You’ll never do that again!
“Look! Anyone’s hope to capture him will prove itself false; anyone would be terrified just by looking at him.” (Job 41:5-9).

Meaning this animal is untouchable. You dare not touch it. You dare not try to kill it. You dare not try to play with it like pets. You dare not misbehave around it.

God’s picture is seen here. Very great, powerful, you don’t misbehave around Him because He hates sin, nothing can withstand Him. He asked Job;

RECOMMENDED:  MORNING DEW: Lack of knowledge make my people perish

“… Who, then, can stand in my presence and face me?
Who can take me to court and be reconciled to me? All of heaven is mine.” (Job 41:10-11).

Nobody can face Him. Nobody can send Him to court to decide His case. He is the JUDGE Himself.

He superintends cases of all kinds and dealing justly with each case.
Beloved, this is the God you must fear. If He says “I hate A”, then He meant it. He can kill without any arrest, so fear Him. Stay away from sin because He hates it. Fear Him and live long. If you want to have a fulfilled life in the ministry, then fear Him.

Lake of Fire is waiting for those who do not fear God. They will cry in pain.
They will suffer for the rest of their lives in the Lake of Fire. One thing is sure, He will continue to be God.
Nothing can change His position.

MEMORY VERSE

11  Who can take me to court and be reconciled to me? All of heaven is mine.” (Job 41:11).

PRAYER:

Thank you Father, for your wondrous acts, thank you for your grace and powerful works, I acknowledge you as mighty and Super God,
Amen!
