MORNING DEW: 03/01/2019
THEME: THE DUTY OF HUMANKIND
TEXT: ECCLESIASTES 12:13-14
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
FEAR GOD
To fear means to be afraid of, to stand in awe of, to reverence, honour, respect, to be dreadful, to cause astonishment, terrify.
God expects humankind to fear Him, that’s to reverence Him. We have no other creator except the Lord almighty. He created all things. He expects that what He created should respect Him, they should reverence Him, they should honour Him.
It is rather unfortunate the path human beings have taken. The kind of life human beings are living. Many people think they own their lives so nobody can instructs them. Nobody has time for God anymore.
Most of us reverence stones, trees, water bodies, moon, sun, stars. These are mediums which the worshipper thinks he/she gets linked to God, but no.
The scripture says “fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man”.
This is the whole duty of mankind. Maybe you were not created by God, but as far as you are the creation of God you are to fear God and keep His commandments.
What is God’s Commandments? Let’s read this:
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?
Jesus told him, You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
This is the greatest and most important commandment.
The second is exactly like it: You must love your neighbor as yourself.
All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:36-40).
So this is the whole duty of mankind, to love God with all our HEARTS, SOULS and MINDS and also love our neighbours the same way we love ourselves.
Thank you Jesus for this revelation!
Doing this means you fear God. If all human beings should LOVE God and their fellow humans we wouldn’t be experiencing what is happening now; the killings, the destruction, the hatred, the abortion, the fornication, the lying, the gossip, the idolatry, the adultery. We wouldn’t be seeing all these.
It is not too late to run to God, fear Him. He shall bring every work into judgment. Every secret act shall be revealed. Whatever you are doing undercover shall be revealed, and either heaven or hell shall be your destination.
THE CHOICE IS YOURS
JESUS IS CALLING YOU
THE HOUR IS NOW!
MEMORY VERSE: “For God will judge every deed, along with every secret, whether good or evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:14)
Prayer: Lord, I have come, henceforth I will keep your commandments, help me do this Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ Name!
