MORNING DEW: Job desired to die

MORNING DEW: 19-10-2018

TOPIC: JOB DESIRED TO DIE

TEXT: JOB 6:8-13

“Who will grant my wish? I wish God would grant what I’m hoping for: that God would just be willing to crush me; that he would let loose and eliminate me!  At least I could still take comfort and rejoice in unceasing anguish, for I didn’t conceal what the Holy One has to say. Do I have the strength to wait? And why should I be patient? Am I as strong as a rock? Am I some kind of iron man?  There is no help within me, is there? My resources have been driven away from me, haven’t they?”

JOB DESIRED TO DIE

Influence indeed can kill. It was not just the pains that pushed Job to desire of leaving the earth, but his neighbours played a major role. He could no longer contain the verbal attacks on his person, the stigma, the accusations, besides, his own wife turned her back on him.

Due to all these Job wanted to end his life.

NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF ACCUSATIONS ON THE VICTIM

Accusations, being a strong tool of the enemy, is potent and can do so much to God’s elect.

  1. It can kill.
  2. It can make you feel uneasy.
  3. It can make you lose control.
  4. It can destroy you.
RECOMMENDED:  IDENTITY CRISIS 9

Job desired to die due to the accusations of his three friends. They came to mourn with Job, yet they brought sorrows into  his life. So fear gripped Job and he desired to die.

DOES DEATH SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS?

I hear people say; “what am I living for, death should take me away?”

Normally the people who go through pains in life or the old folks do say this. But does death heal your predicaments?

Death is inevitable as we all know, and every soul born of a woman would one day die.

However, when you die there is judgment (Hebrews 9:27). The Master of the universe would judge you. The life you lived on earth would depend on the kind of judgment you would get. After the judgment one would go to a destination, either heaven or hell.

What would qualify someone to enter heaven is the person’s acceptance of Jesus Christ on earth and continue to do His will till death. But the rejection of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, your destination would be the hell fire.

RECOMMENDED:  MORNING DEW: There is a reason

So it’s not about the death, if you die in Christ, you are saved but if you die without Christ, then you are doomed.

Job, even though knew God, fear pushed him to make that statement.

Fear is deadly. It is poisonous. As a believer, don’t allow fear to torment you.

Death would never solve the problem of sicknesses, diseases, hardships, challenges, Christ does. Instead of calling on death to take your life, call on Christ to help you.

Don’t forget, some individuals in the Bible had similar problems and they called on God instead of death. We can talk of Jabez in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 and Hannah in 1 Samuel 1.

Beloved, being on God’s side would come with challenges, accept them and move on.

Don’t ever call on death to take your life, call on Jesus Christ to help you.

Prayer: Father, forgive me of my loose talk, give me the strength to move on, in Jesus Name!

Amen!
