TOPIC: IS YOUR NAME WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE?
TEXT: REVELATION 20:11:15
- Then I saw a large, white throne and the one who was sitting on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and no place was found for them.
- I saw the dead, both unimportant and important, standing in front of the throne, and books were open. Another book was opened—the Book of Life. The dead were judged according to their actions, as recorded in the books.
- The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and all were judged according to their actions.
- Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. (This is the second death—the lake of fire.)
- Anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.
THE LARGE, WHITE THRONE
The large, white throne seen by John was the government seat of Jesus Christ. It is called Judgment Seat of Christ. The earth and heaven couldn’t withstand the presence of their Creator, they had to disappear. They could not withstand His Majestic Power.
Even the elements of heaven and earth had to disappear as the matter of urgency. It is a lesson for those who misbehave in the presence of God. He is God and that makes Him unique. In His presence there must be decorum.
DEADS WERE GATHERED BEFORE THE THRONE FOR JUDGMENT
John saw the dead, important and unimportant, standing in front of the throne.
Great people were before the throne of the Master. Head of states, billions, millions, poor people, beautiful ones, handsome, ugly, tall, short, fat, slim, were all before the Master for judgment. Meaning no one will escape. These things are yet to happen.
No matter how smart you are, how crafty, how intelligent, you won’t escape this judgment. Your arrogance will only destroy you but nothing else.
BOOKS WERE OPENED
Many books were opened. Two of such books are:
- Book of life – record of those who accepted Christ.
- Book of hell fire – record of all those who rejected Christ.
Those books were full of names of ordinary and important personalities.
Which book do you prefer? If the book of life, then it begins with Jesus Christ. It is not everyone who will have his name in the book of life. Such people are:
“… cowardly, unfaithful, detestable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars will find themselves in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8).
DEATH AND HADES WERE THROWN INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE
Those who names were not found in the Book of life were all thrown into the LAKE OF FIRE. Here, people will gnash their teeth with pains. People will cry for help but no help will be given.
The Lake of Fire is not a joke, to dodge the Lake of Fire, SALVATION is the only option, accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour gives you salvation.
Nominal Christians will end up in the Lake of Fire. People who think that Christianity is a union which you have to decide your membership. A Christian whose one leg is in the church and one leg is outside the church.
Don’t be a victim beloved.
“Anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15).
Prayer: I don’t want to be a victim Lord, therefore, help me Holy Spirit, keep my name in the Book of Life till His glory, in Jesus Name!
