BUILDING THE CHURCH (Part 2)
After Jesus’ profound question, Peter answered back in such a manner that marvelled Jesus Himself.
Simon Peter said, “You’re the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Peter didn’t know answering that question would reveal who he Peter really is.
Prior to this, no one had given Jesus a satisfiable answer before in the bible.
Jesus came back, “God bless you, Simon, son of Jonah! You didn’t get that answer out of books or from teachers. My Father in heaven, God himself, let you in on this secret of who I really am. And now I’m going to tell you who you are, really are. You are Peter, a rock. This is the rock on which I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out.”
It’s obvious that Peter’s revelation from the father about the true identity of Jesus showed Him who he is.
Do you know nobody can really tell you who Jesus is unless it is revealed to you by God personally?
And do you also know that you don’t really know who you are unless you catch a revelation of who Jesus truly is? Who is Jesus to you? Your answer will determine who you are as well.
Building a church without a personal revelation of who Jesus is daily, will never stand. The church might grow numerically but will be weak spiritually. It is remarkable to know Jesus didn’t say this to any of the disciples but Peter.
God’s Church is built by revelation of the living word who is Christ Jesus Himself because the letter kills but the Spirit gives life.(Exodus 32:28,Acts 2:41)
I onetime found myself saying, “The revelation of who Jesus is daily,is my ministry.”
If am not in daily flow with the Spirit to receive what he has for me each day, I will be prevailed by the devil. Because He said the revelations are new every morning.Jesus taught His disciples to ask for bread(word of God) every day.A strong church is one that receives revelation daily from God to be able to reveal the schemes of the enemy in the church. The enemy hates the church and will always devour the ignorant (Ephesians 6:12-18)
You can’t fight today’s battle with yesterday’s bread. (Exodus 16:19-21)
When a church is full of constant personal revelation, light is always shining from glory to glory and darkness has no room to dwell.
In the book of Acts of Apostles, a Jewish chief priest named Sceva whose sons decided to confront a demon based on Paul’s perspective or revelation ended up been prevailed by the demon.Did they not mention Jesus’ name? Why did the demon prevail against them in Acts 19:23? They lacked a personal revelation about who the master was, so the demon asked who they were?
For demons to know us or the church like Paul, we must hunger and posses a deeper revelation of Jesus to reveal who we are to the demons. Those who know their God do exploits. Daniel 11:32
It’s not enough to believe in God, because the devil believes in God as well. James 2:19
