After that direct question from Jesus to his disciples, I believe they saw how devoted he was about the things he say and his assignment respectively.
Peter been the outspoken one amongst them chose to respond for the 11.
“Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.” John 6:68-69 KJV When Jesus stood unflinchingly to the contrary reactions and misunderstandings of his followers, those who were really needed for the assignment that layed in front of him eventually got attracted and believed in him.
Why was Jesus willing to allow the 12 to unfollow him supposing they wanted to?
”But if I did judge anyone, I would decide correctly what is right. That is because I am not alone. The Father has sent me, and he is with me.” John 8:16
Jesus was fully aware of his invisible entourage far greater than any number of followers he could attain. Like was said in the Old Testament ” Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.” 2 Kings 6:16 KJV
I believe it’s the trustless behaviour of most folks on the word of God that leads us to the pleasing of men in order not to be alone.
To be really happy you must distinguish what God requires of you for your assignment and what others expect of you. By attending to what God requires of you, it proves you live to please God.
Does this mean one must walk only with God and forsake men? No! Service to men is indeed service to God but one must always endeavor to please God only and with that conviction it will make our relationship with God blossom supernaturally.
“Peter and the other apostles answered, ‘We must obey God rather than obey people.” (Acts 5:29)
And when a man walks unflinchingly with God, he becomes charming and appealing to those who really love God. And God will cause those divine helpers, mates and partners to locate them like David and Jonathan and Joseph and the chief baker in the prison.
Living happily after is then the ramifications of a solid unshakable following of God and obedience to his word. Knowing that he’s with you and need not put the pleasing of men ahead of his guidance and fellowship.
“So then, my friends, because of God’s great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer.” (Romans 12:1)
Seek to please God only as you embark on the wonderful calling on your life because God will never leave nor forsake you.
You are never alone! Seek ye first.
God bless
