Many Christians are addicts to daily devotionals. It has become conventional for Christians to engage in ” quiet time ” early in the morning to romance with divinity through the Word of God, prayers and other spiritual exercise. The use of daily devotionals hence has become the modus operandi for such Christians who want to have some solitary moments with their Maker.
Pastor David Ibiyeomie, the President of the Salvation Ministry International, who is on verge of completion of world’s biggest audiotorium, views the use of daily devotionals otherwise. Contrary to popular opinion of the manifold testimonies of how daily devotions help them, he says, ” daily devotionals are for elementary Christians “. He outrightly did not rubbish the use of daily devotionals neither did he vilify it, but, he sees a true Christian who hungers for revelation will sit deep and labour in the word than going for daily devotionals all year.
The Holy Bible classifies some people as ” babes ” in the things of God, and they characterized by their lack of meat but joyous of milk. The Pastor admonishes Christians to labour earnestly in God’s word to access life changing revelations, than to read some five (5) minute devotion.
He said, “devotionals are for elementary students. When you grow in Christ, you go for meat”.
