Stop Sinning

MORNING DEW: 05/12/2019

JOHN 5:14 – “Later on, Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, “Look! You have become well. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.”

STOP SINNING OR SOMETHING WORSE MAY HAPPEN TO YOU

Jesus healed a grown up man who was helpless for 38 years. This man was lying in the pool for 38 years, suffering from a bad condition. His deliverance was due, hence the Great Healer appeared there. Jesus asked him to take his mat and walk and that was it. After this mission Jesus disappeared, after all He carried out the mission He was there for.
Later on Jesus met him in the Temple, and then told him; “… Look! You have become well. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.”

It appears this man’s condition was as the result of his own sins. Or it was just a normal advice to him. Any of these is possible.
Sin can make or unmake a person. Sin is pleasant in the eyes of the doer but very destructive. Jesus warned him to stop sinning or something worse may happen to him, meaning sin can bring worse happenings in the life of the doer.

Let’s consider some consequences of sins:

1. Sicknesses and diseases.
Like the man under study, sin can bring sicknesses and diseases in one life. Sin can strike you with hard diseases, it can be epilepsy, stroke, it can make you cripple, it can spread boils on your body. Because the moment you involve yourself in sin you are exposed to the enemy, however, the demon responsible for sicknesses and diseases will begin their activities in you.

2. Challenges and hardships.
Sin can expose you to challenges and hardships. The demons responsible for challenges and hardships will begin to bring so much pain through challenges and through hardships. You will loose everything. Your accounts will be dried or blocked. If your child is hospitalized today, tomorrow will be your wife or yourself. You will sell all your properties just to make your life better, but it will worsen the more. You will be struggling with the worse poverty.
You need to check yourself, search your heart, there is a hidden sin.

3. Death
“The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).
The reward of sin or the penalty of sin is death. We read the story of Ananias and his wife, Sapphira in the Bible (Acts 5:1-11). Sin caused their lives. Stop sinning beloved, death awaits you.

4. Hell fire
People who sin will find their way in the hell fire. Jesus told the man to stop sinning or something worse may happen to him. What is worse than hell fire? On the judgment day He (Jesus) will separate the sheep and the goat (Matthew 25:33) for judgment. The goats are those who have rejected Jesus Christ as their Master and Saviour, which is the greatest sin, and those who accepted Christ yet involved in sinful acts.

Beloved, sin can cause your life. Sin is a violation against God’s Law (the Bible). And the greatest of it is rejecting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.

RECOMMENDED:  MORNING DEW: David, the man after God's own heart (Part 3)

“He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil” (John 3:18-19).

It is not a joke, beloved. The hour is now to accept Jesus Christ. Stop sinning to avoid worse happenings in your life.

MEMORY VERSE

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in union with the Messiah Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23).

PRAYER

I accept you now into my life, Lord, as my Lord and Saviour, forgive my sins and wash me with the blood of Jesus, in Jesus’ Name!
Amen!
