Redemption has ushered the believer into kingship and priesthood
The walk between God and His people Israel was trademarked with peculiarity. For whomsoever God has touched or walked or associated with ceases to be a commoner but by default becomes a special entity or person. God spoke through His prophet, Moses, to the children of Israel in Exodus 19:5-6, “Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep mu covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar people: for all the earth is mine: And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.”
The instructions of God dwelt on Israel obeying His voice and keeping His covenant and the aftermath effect would make them a peculiar people, kingdom of priests and an holy nation. Peculiarity, priesthood and holiness are virtues from God. He therefore issued such a command to Israel.
Paul in Romans 6:17 that, “But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you”. When one comes to believe in his heart that the Father raised Jesus from the dead and confesses to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, such a person has obeyed the gospel from his heart and now fits to be a peculiar people, an holy nation and a royal priesthood.
With this perfect understanding, Apostle Peter after likening the believer to Christ said in 1 Peter 2:9, “And you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy people and an holy nation to show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness”
John, the Revelator shared this same thought in Revelations 1:5-6, “And from Jesus Christ, who is faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from ours ins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father: to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen”.
