1.) Should a pastor tithe – Yes, everyone should tithe. Pastors should lead by example.
2.) Should I tithe net or gross? – Tithe ALL your income. Everything that comes to your hands.
3.) Doc, I don’t go to church, where should I tithe? – Go to church. God is interested with you, not your money. God does not need any coin from you. He owns everything. We give to show God that we do not hold anything back from Him. For where your money is, there your heart is (Matthew 6:21). Before you settle down in a local church, you can give to an online church you attend or to a ministry spreading the gospel in remote places.
4.) Doc, I’m still not convinced about tithe – Pray about it. People who fight tithe just like giving whatever they want. God introduced tithe to help us develop a conscious giving attitude – not to throw away change to God. God does not accept left-overs. Tithe means – God first. God does not receive lame offerings. That’s why most children of God are stuck in debts!
Malachi 1:8-10 – When you offer blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice lame or diseased animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?” says the LORD Almighty. “Now plead with God to be gracious to us. With such offerings from your hands, will he accept you?”—says the LORD Almighty. “Oh, that one of you would shut the temple doors, so that you would not light useless fires on my altar! I am not pleased with you,” says the LORD Almighty, “and I will accept no offering from your hands.
