MORNING DEW: 18/02/2019
THEME: WOE TO ALL IDOL WORSHIPPERS (PART TWO)
TEXT: HABAKKUK 2:18-19
“Where is the benefit in owning a carved image, that motivates its maker to carve it? It is only a cast image a teacher that lies because the engraver entrusts himself to his carving, crafting speechless idols. Woe to the one who says to a tree, Wake up! or Arise! to a speechless stone. Idols like this can’t teach, can they? Look, even though it is overlaid with gold and silver, there’s no breath in it at all.”
IDOL
A graven image or representation of anything that is revered, or believed to convey spiritual power is an idol.
Idols are dangerous. They can incur God’s anger on an individual or a nation.
Let’s continue with the unknown gods served ignorantly.
THE UNKNOWN GODS SERVED (GODS OF THE HEART)
MOBILE PHONE
Mobile phone has become the biggest gods in the 21st century. Some of us value our phones more than God. We respect our phones more than God. In fact we worship our phones. We sleep with our phones and wake up with same phones.
The amount we will use to buy one phone, the same person cannot use quarter or half of that amount to buy a good Bible. It is pitiful.
FOOTBALL
One of the gods many people serve in our days is football. Football shows have now become Sundays shows, and many people will not go to church because their teams are playing.
Many people prefer watching their favourite teams matches to going for church services. You know what? You have backslidden. You cannot exchange God for any other thing, being whatsoever. You can’t serve two masters, you know.
You either hate the other and love the other. So you cannot serve God and football at the same time. You have to choose one.
Some people would have to lose their lives and some have to suffer from severe stroke because their teams lost.
You have failed God friend. If inability to go to church does not make you sick or kill you but football could do that, then that is Satan himself you are serving.
COURTSHIP
You are dating so the business of God should come to a halt. “I’m visiting my boy/girl so no service today.” This is what some people do consistently, and the funny thing is that they would not see anything wrong about it.
The time they spend with their would-bes is far more than the time they spend with God. Such ones listen to their would-bes than God. They rather spend the night with their would-bes than with God. God becomes the third party in their matters.
MARRIAGES
Many people give excuses like; ‘it was my wife,’ ‘it was my husband,’ ‘I wanted to come but my husband said no. Many ladies exchange their glories due to marriage. They have neglected Jesus Christ. They have abandoned salvation due to marriage. Marriage will send many people to the Lake of Fire. Therefore let’s be wise in our dealings.
We all will receive fair trial in heaven.
Let me remind you that there is nothing like marriage in heaven.
MATERIALISM
Fashion is the order of the day. Many people are now pursuing fashion instead of God. Some prefer spending so much on clothing’s to spiritual things. They don’t have good Bibles or don’t have at all but they have good clothing’s, good shoes, good cell phones.
Read this:
“Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him, because all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust of it, but he who does the will of God abides forever” (1 John 2:15-17).
The machines, the clothing’s, the beautiful structures, will all pass away. Stop chasing them. If you spend your time chasing them you will die leaving them.
MOVIES
People would watch a movie and forget about church service. They would know the time for church service as soon as the part two of the movie ends. “Take the lead I will come” but would never attend.
They would have to enjoy the movie before attending to the call of God. And you claim you love God. You are serving an unknown God.
PARENTS
Some people will say “we are waiting to bury our parents before giving our lives to Christ.”
Read this scripture.
“And another of His disciples said to him, Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.” Matthew 8:21
Also, you don’t need to perform any rituals for the dead (your dead parents or any relative of yours) for the Bible says;
“You shall not shave around the sides of your head, nor shall you disfigure the edges of your beard’ you shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo marks on you: I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:27).
EDUCATION
You are not the initiator of education, so don’t think you know all. When education began you were not born. Education began with Adam my friend.
Read:
“And Adam gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the air, and to every animal of the field…” (Genesis 2:20).
Adam was the first biologist, zoologist and botanist. You just appeared in the scene and say there is no God. How dare you! You should learn from the first man, Adam, and probably make some reference from his thesis.
Quote him, it is called academics. You think there is NO creator of this world. You need to do some checkups, because there is something wrong with your brain.
How can this large and wide universe just formed out of nothing? Instead of you making references to Adam’s thesis, which all those who came before him quoted, you are out there making errors.
Who gave birth to you anyway? You might have come out of nothing. If human beings were like apes according to Charles Darwin, name the first human ape.
Read this and awake from your slumber;
“The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.
The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God. They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one” (Psalm 14:1 -3).
Education, if pursued to some level and care is not taken, one turns away from the almighty God and begin to serve Satan. You would be serving unknown god without knowing.
TELEVISION/RADIO PROGRAMMES
Programmes showing on television and being aired on radio steal a lot of people from the True God. Many people would not go to church because his favourite programme is showing on television or airing on radio.
Thank God for Jesus. With Jesus Christ you can amend your ways and run to Him.
Stop idol worship and come to Jesus Christ now!
MEMORY VERSE
“This is what the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, the God of Israel, says: “Change your ways and your deeds, and I’ll let you live in this place” (Jeremiah 7:3).
Prayer: Father, forgive me of my sins, the sins of idol worship, and cleanse me with the Blood of Jesus Christ, in Jesus’ Name!
