TOPIC: LET YOUR SERMON LEAD PEOPLE TO GOD (GOD’S CENTERED SERMONS)
TEXT: MATTHEW 4:17
“From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
GOD’S PLANS FOR MANKIND
God has better plans for mankind. His plan is to give us an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). God loves mankind to the extent that He had to sacrifice His only Son for us (John 3:16). When His Son came to earth He continued God’s agenda for mankind. So His sermons were on point and heaven based ones.
He never twisted His messages to please His followers. He never compromised His faith to please anybody.
“Repent for the kingdom of God is near,” was His messages. His sermons and teachings were directing people to God.
They were heaven centered messages.
What of you, beloved? Can you boldly say that your sermons are heaven centered? Are they directing people to God or scattering people from God? Or they are making people comfortable to think that they are serving God? Are you saying what you are saying for the sake of your stomach or for the sake of His kingdom?
Jesus agenda on earth was for us to have life and have it more abundant (John 10:10). Any contrary agenda as a Christian is an error. What kind of life are you giving to people? The life Jesus talked about is eternal life; because He alone is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and through Him we can get to the Father (John 14:6).
So every sermon must center on this eternal life. After the experience on earth that’s the reward we will get from our heavenly Father.
My fellow Christians, what is the basis of your sermon? What is the centre of your sermon? Are you directing people to God or Satan? Are you directing people to heaven or hell?
Stop preaching oil, water, stickers, salt, money, lotto, because these mediums cannot direct people to God, they can only help people to enter into idol worship ignorantly and later on end up in the hell fire.
Tell the people the truth, the only way to set them free. The person is living in sin and instead of you pointing out his sin and telling him to repent and give his life Jesus, you are asking him to buy your oil in order to solve his problem.
The person has taken somebody’s husband and instead of you pointing out her error to her for her to repent and accept Jesus Christ, you are giving her dead hope because she bought your oil. If you like be healed from your sicknesses, be swimming in money, control the whole world without repentance in Christ Jesus, you will end up in hell fire.
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Galatians 6:7).
When you sow in sin, you will reap eternal fire. And when you sow in life through repentance, you will reap eternal peace (heaven). So watch out!
Repent for the kingdom of heaven is near!
Repent for Jesus’ second coming is near!
Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, help me preach God’s centered messages instead of hell centered messages, in Jesus Mighty Name!
