MORNING DEW: 12/02/2019
THEME: DON’T BE UNGRATEFUL
TEXT: JOB 2:9-10
“Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.”
DON’T BE UNGRATEFUL
Ungrateful person is a person who is not grateful; not expressing gratitude; a dissatisfied person.
A person who does not remember yesterday. A person who forgets easily.
That was the attitude of Job’s wife.
Job was the richest man in the whole of the East (Job 1:3). Satan eyed him and God permitted it, so Satan tortured Job beyond recognition. The richest man in the whole of East became the poorest man in the whole of East.
This is the moment Job needed support from friends and relatives, especially his wife. But the unfortunate thing happened. Job’s wife forgot the better days. She forgot the best food they ate together, the best clothings, the seven thousand sheep, the three thousand camels, the five hundred oxen.
She also forgot of the five hundred female donkeys, the seven strong children and the many servants they had. She forgot of the good health and favour given to them by God.
She forgot of all that and told her husband, Job, “curse God, and die.” that was unfortunate.
She was ungrateful. I wonder how she could forget so easily.
Like most of us. When pains begin to surface then we begin to have different mindset about God. It is a pity! When people are celebrating they sing praises to God but when they are mourning they curse God with the same mouth. Don’t forget, God is every day and all situations God, and not only yesterday God and only comfort God.
Serve Him when everything is well, and serve Him when all are against you. Serve Him when there is food in your mouth and serve Him when your mouth is empty. Serve Him when there is money in your pocket and serve Him when your pocket is empty. Don’t be ungrateful beloved!
“Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh.”
Don’t be an example of Job’s wife.
MEMORY VERSE
“But God told him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded back from you. Now who will get the things you’ve accumulated?” (Luke 12:20).
Prayer: Father, no matter the circumstances I will still honour you as my Lord, in Jesus’ Name!
Amen!
