MORNING DEW: 05/02/2019
THEME: BE ALERT!
TEXT: 1 Peter 2:8-11
8. Be clear-minded and alert. Your opponent, the devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
9. Resist him and be firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.
10. After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you by the Messiah Jesus to his eternal glory, will restore you, establish you, strengthen you, and support you.
11. Power belongs to him forever and ever! Amen.
THE DEVIL’S AGENDA
The devil has three main agenda to carry out on earth, he has come to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10a). This agenda, as to how he is doing it Peter revealed it in part for our consumption and to be vigilant.
He is roaring like a lion, meaning he is not a lion. There is only one Lion, Jesus the Christ. A lion roar can scare you and make you faint. A lion roar can cause your death. Lions are not friendly. They are dangerous.
Many people today cannot be traced near the Christian faith because of the roaring of the devil (Satan). The devil scares a lot of believers and succeeded by sending them away, in an apostasy state. That’s why we must be alert.
Resist him. Don’t allow him get close to you. He uses many things to achieve his agenda. He can use money, boyfriend or girlfriend relationship, alcoholic drinks, women, pride, your boss in the office, your parents, your own flesh (1 John 2:15-17; Galatians 5:19-21).
You remember what he told Jesus. He offered Jesus the pleasures of this world (Matthew 4:1-10). If Jesus was not alert He would have fallen to his roaring. Be alert. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Pray always. Study your Bible always.
Be humble. Stop eating anyhow.
Stop associating yourself with others anyhow because he can use anybody to achieve his agenda. Find the right company. He is only roaring like a lion but not one so don’t fear him.
MEMORY VERSE
The thief comes only to steal, slaughter, and destroy. I’ve come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10).
Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me stay vigilant without getting scared of the devil, in Jesus’ Name!
Amen!
