An Open Door Is Set Before You

“TO the church in Philadelphia write: These are the word of Him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What He opens no one can shut and what He shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. (Revelation 3: 7-8 NIV).

THEME: AN OPEN DOOR IS SET BEFORE YOU

INTRODUCTION: The church at Philadelphia, like Smyrna, did not receive any rebuke from Jesus. The Lord reveals Himself to the Philadelphia believers as the one with the key of David, thus, in Isaiah 22:22” I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David, what He opens no one can shuts and what He shuts no one can open”. Jesus has complete authority and power to open and shut every door. The Local Jews had shut the door to the Synagogue in Philadelphia. Enemies of God may close earthly doors to believers. Likewise, there are doors on earth that God opens and no one can shut. Forty [40] men tried to close Paul’s life (Acts 22:12-22). No number of humans or demons can close the door that God wants open. Philadelphia means the city of brotherly love but in reality the city was lacking brotherly love.

1. God wants to bless us. His blessings are free but there are conditions attached.
2. His blessings come by works. What do you do for God? What are your works? “His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes and they will invite their three sisters to come and feast with them. When a period of feasting had run it course, Job will send and have them purified. Early in the morning, he will sacrifice a burnt offerings thinking, perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their heart [Job 1:4-5]. This was Job’s regular custom.
3. When you serve God, He in turn serves and preserves you.( Isaiah 38:2&3, How King Hezekiah was healed from his sicknesses).” Hezekiah turned his face to the Lord and prayed, remember O Lord how I have walked before you and with wholehearted devotion in your sight”
4. Every man whose spirituality is lower than his woman is a failure. Men like work, politics, sports, keep fit, and sometimes drops their wives at church premises while they attend to other things.

CONCLUSION: No one can shut a door that God opens. God alone has the final say.  Remain blessed always.
