MORNING DEW: 29-11-2018

TEXT: MARK 1:16-20

“Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.  And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him. And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets. And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.”

Let’s take a day off of “David, The Man After God’s Own Heart” and consider something different.

Jesus began His ministry small, evangelizing in the coastal areas. He was not going to offices or schools speaking to managers, CEOs, professors or millionaires. He called a low reputation people, who were already comfortable in their businesses. Most of them were fishermen.

The small ministry with low reputation people has now gotten high classes of people, which include professors, Chief Executive Officers, Managers, rich people, etc. All these people need to be rooted in the faith like any other believer.

Simon and Andrew were working as usual to make a living. Their families were waiting for the outcome of the sales. Their business partners were also waiting for their stock.

“…come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men”.

After this command, they didn’t hesitate, they left the net, the fish and all their materials at the sea shore. Their wives and children would have been waiting to receive them, as well as their customers. They left everything and followed Jesus. They did not look back. They abandoned everything.

Also, When He saw James and his brother John in the same coastal area, He called them and they also left everything and followed Him. They did not think of what to do. They didn’t ask Jesus to give them some days to think about it, no. They did not say; “Jesus, allow us go and bury our parents”, no they didn’t say that.

When you choose to serve God, you don’t look back. If He calls you, you must leave everything and follow Him. Abraham left his family at Haran and went to a strange land he had no idea of.

“The LORD told Abram, “You are to leave your land, your relatives, and your father’s house and go to the land that I’m going to show you” (Genesis 12:1).

Abraham left his comfort zone, his relatives, his friends, he knew these people from his childhood but he had to obey God’s voice.

Sometimes God would expect you to leave everything, including your family, into the ministry. Sometimes you would have to leave your profession and go into the ministry. People who refuse to leave, they go through so many challenges in life. So when you hear from God to leave, just do exactly that, because leaving will bring that long awaiting blessings you have been waiting for.

Certain bad characters or behaviours need to be left off. You can’t go to God with certain behaviours. You grew up doing some things which were part of your life, to cross on the Lord’s side, you need to leave such things. For instance; idol worship, charms, soothsaying, divinity, spells, etc. You can’t cross to the Lord’s side with these things. The fleshy desires such as fornication, drinking, gossiping, etc., would have to be left off before crossing.

Don’t hesitate to leave, either your past life, bad character or your family.

Prayer: Lord, I am giving you my all for the sake of the kingdom, in Jesus’ Name!
