The power in the name of Jesus
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)
The divine verity of the name of Jesus has been challenged by many and have aimed to bring to a disrepute. The word of God, however enlightens believers on the power vested in the name of Jesus and how the name is a strong tower to those who seek refuge in Him.
When God decided to send Moses to a hostile land in commission of the deliverance for the people of God, He revealed Himself unto Moses. He said, “And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them” (Exodus 6:3) – with the intent of revealing His name JEHOVAH unto Moses. The literal meaning of Jehovah is “Lord” thereby unveiling the mystery of Lordship to Moses.
In the book of Philippians, the Apostle Paul unraveled a great mystery to the church about the servitude of Jesus Christ who denied His divine form which landed Him to inherit a name which is above every name. In Philippians 2:9-10, Paul said, “Wherefore God hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
God revealed Himself to Moses as the “Lord of the camp” has been embedded in the Jesus Christ. When Jesus was ascending, He asked His disciples to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:19), yet all the disciples baptized in the name of Jesus because they knew the power in the name of Jesus.
The Israelites knew God as Rapha when He healed them, Jireh as their provider, Nissi as their banner but all these attributes have been embedded in the name of Jesus Christ.
