Remain “composed” in Christ Jesus
For thus hath the Lord spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the Lord of hosts come down to fight for Mount Zion, and for the hill thereof….. (Isaiah 31:4-5)
There are many external factors that attempt to derail us from the goals we have set for our lives. These factors sometimes are brutal aimed to maim and incapacitate us from reaching our divine destinations.
The word of God however tells the believer to gain mastery over the ordeals of life. There will be oppositions to sway the believer and subvert him from purpose of God. Samson is a perfect match for a star who was opposed from every angle to reach his destination in life. In Judges 14, after his parents were at parallel to his choice of woman to marry, they were confronted by a big lion en route Timnath. Judges 14:5 says, “But his father and his mother knew not that it was the Lord, that sought an occasion against the Philistines: for that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel”.
Samson’s parents were overburdened by their son’s choice of marrying an uncircumcised Philistines but were absolutely oblivious that God was using it as a ploy to attack the Philistines.
Timnath also refers as “The Appointed Place” and divinely strategized to bring an end to Philistines dominance over Israel. Yet, whilst they were on their way to Timnath, a lion attacked Samson and not his parents.
Samson had the promise by God to end the Philistines but did not stop the attack. The bible now tells the believer to fix his gaze on his goals unperturbed the challenges notwithstanding.
