My Christian faith only helped me to forgive Trump, Ted Cruz admits
Prior to the 2016 general elections in America, there was an undisputable high contest within the Republican Party. As famous and influential as the then Presidential hopeful, Donald Trump, was, Ted Cruz gave him a political bout in the Presidential primaries. Ted Cruz was the highest competitor who could dematerialize the vision of Trump from leading the Reds and also holding the reins as the President of the United States. The political battle between the duo nearly sparked a feud as both of the then candidates looked for s soft spot of the other and use it as a leverage to emerge triumphant.
Trump tweeted in 2016 to compare his extravagant wife, Melania and that of Cruz’s, Heidi and drew a comparison between their looks. Mr. Trump made unfair comments about the wife of Ted Cruz which were appalling and shameful which arguably touched the pulses of Mr. Cruz.
When asked about the obnoxious scene his family had to undergo during the period, Mr. Cruz accrued his power to let go and forgive President Trump to being a Christian. He quoted an excerpt of the Lord’s prayer of “forgiving others as God forgives us”. He added that it was human to allow your feelings to be hurt and hold a grudge. He testified of the ugliness of politics and how his Christian faith has made him forgive others. He quoted Harry Truman, “ If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog” explaining the dirtiness in politics.
