I.C.G.C Christ Temple donates GHS200,000 to Korle-Bu’s children Cancer Unit
International Central Gospel Centre’s wing Christ Temple has made an overwhelming cash donation of GH200,000.00 to the Cancer Unit of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
The donation is to subsidize the financial responsibilities of parents who are cash-strapped in treating their children with cancer. Many parents are financially incapacitated and the children’s heath deteriorate because they do not meet the financial demands of health care. The donation is to bring solace to such people.
A delegation from the hospital was at Christ Temple to receive the cheque equivalent to GHS200,000.00 on Sunday. Statistically, there have been over 1,200 beneficiaries of the church’s project since its inception I n 2011.
Mrs. Joy Otabil in the handling ceremony said, “Our understanding is that most childhood cancers are curable with early treatment. The good news is that since we started supporting the Unit, children from deprived communities have been receiving 100% treatment. No one is turned away from the Unit for financial reasons”.
Lorna Renna, Head of Paediatric Oncology Unit at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital confirmed that all children who receive treatment are expect to benefit from the support. The money is expected to procure drip regulators, syringes, methylated spirit, sanitizers and other materials that will help facilitate health care.
