6 Reasons Why You Must Go to Church today

A lot of people will give many reasons why they wouldn’t be able to attend church this Sunday.
“I have to wash my cloths”
“I have been working from Monday to Saturday, today is the only day I can rest”
“We had a funeral yesterday and it continues today, I can’t attend church this Sunday”
“I just returned from a journey and feels very tired”
Whatever your reason is, if you decide you wouldn’t allow that reason to deter you from going to church, it won’t!
Just take a look at these 6 reasons why you must be at church this Sunday.

1. God asks us to
Hebrews 10:25
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another and so much more as you see the Day approaching”

The assembling of the church is very necessary that the writer of Hebrew stated it and even added that the assembling of the church is very critical as the Day is approaching. We all know we are in the last days before Christ’s return. Jesus, on Earth, was always seen at the temple. Jesus would go to the mountain and pray the whole night but still goes to the church to listen and to teach.

2. To hear God’s Word
Hebrew 4:12
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword…
That is what the Bible says about the word of God. If you believe it to be true then you must admit you need it more often.
The word of God penetrates hearts and transforms lives, calls sinners to repentance, encourages the downtrodden and inspires the Lord’s servants to love and serve Christ. It also lights the way God would have you go.

3. To Participate in Corporate Worship
Worshiping God alone is wonderful, but nothing can replace the beauty of coming together corporately to worship Him with others who also have His Spirit in them through the redeeming work of salvation.
Realize that worshiping God comes as a response to our humble gratitude for His love for us. Knowing God and His character as revealed in Scripture will stir in His children a heart of thankfulness that is expressed in worship that brings Him glory––rather than a self-serving emotional experience. The Spirit causes true worshipers to long to come together with other believers to honour Christ.

4. Because Iron Sharpens Iron
That is what Proverbs 27:17 tells us. Meeting regularly with other believers is a source of encouragement and strength. But know this: when iron rubs against iron, not only does it become sharper, it also causes sparks! It’s just part of the process.
Working alongside Christians in a church is a wonderful way to grow your love for God and for others. And it is also God’s way of showing you areas He wants to mature your walk with Christ.

If you’ve stopped attending church because people hurt you, didn’t measure up to your expectations, or are hypocritical, know that the enemy has you right where he wants you. Satan’s tactic is to divide and conquer. If he can pull you from the flock, you are vulnerable to his deceptions and attacks. Satan will use your lack of love for God’s people to quench your love for God.

5. To Exercise Your Gift
From preaching to encouraging, hospitality to administration, God equips His children with gifts to serve Christ. (1 Corinthians 12 and Romans 12:6). When a church body is healthy, its members realize they are part of the congregation not only to receive but also to be a blessing.

RECOMMENDED:  Why Outreach Matters in the Church

Statistics reveal that in most churches, 20 percent of the people do 80 percent of the work. This is not to guilt you into “getting involved” at your church, rather it is to inspire you. Imagine, God has supernaturally gifted you so that He can glorify Himself through you as you serve Christ (Ephesians 2:10).

6. To Encourage Your Pastor
When you become a partner in ministry with your pastor you bring joy to his heart, grow his love for you, and cause him to joyfully thank God for your faithful service to Christ.
If you doubt this, checkout what the Apostle Paul said in Philippians 1:3-7
“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now… And it is right for me to feel this way about you all for I hold you in my heart”
So you see, your Pastor is happy when he sees you at church not because of your offertory or tithe. I will discuss in a later article why offertory shouldn’t prevent you from going to church.
Considering the six reasons I have given above, do you still wish to stay home this Sunday? I hope not. Lets meet at church this Sunday. God bless you.
